Veg foods I love!

Tofu-phobic? Many people equate being a vegetarian or vegan ('vegan' = no meat or dairy) with eating only leaves and twigs or really rubbery-tasting plastic 'fake foods'. I do my best to eat cruelty-free... but the meat and dairy alternatives can be hit and miss. Sometimes they're terrible. Sometimes they are way better than the original!

So, to spare you the guesswork, here's some vegan foods that I love!

8th Continent SoyMilk Original

Sold in the dairy case, alongside the regular milk.

Better than regular milk, because there's never that awful 'milk aftertaste'! I like the plain better than the vanilla, because soy milk in natually sweet enough. I've suffered through a lot of horrible tasting soymilk because I believe in the ethics of living dairy-free... but 8th Continent is really wonderful, both on cereal and by the glass!

the good slice cheese slices

Sold in the organic foods section.

This stuff has better cheddar flavor than real cheese slices! I would buy it just for that reason alone. Also comes in Mozzerella, American, and the Jalepeno is awesome!

Vegenaise Grapeseed Mayo

Sold in the organic foods section.

Identical to regular mayonaise, but it is cruelty-free and grapeseed is actually good for you!

'Rice' Grated Parmesan Cheese

Sold in the organic foods section.

All of the products from Rice brand are really good, but the Grated Parmesan Cheese is fantastic! Another alternative food that actually tastes better than the original.

Triple Grande Soy Mocha, No Whip (my drug of choice!)

If you order your coffee with soy milk and no whip cream, you cut 16 grams of fat, and it's vegan! (although I can't vouch for any milk that might be in the chocolate.) You don't need to add a syrup when you ask for soy milk, because soy is naturally sweet.

And a Grande Soy Mocha with No Whip has only 260 calories and 6 grams of fat, compared to the traditional Grande Mocha which has 400 calories and 22 grams of fat!

Burger King 'BK Veggie Burger'

Order the BK Veggie Burger with "everything on it": ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, on a sesame-seed bun. It's surprisingly good!

Be sure to "hold the mayo", to make it completely vegan & cruelty-free, and cut 9 grams of fat!!

(well... it USED to be completely vegan... now they use Morningstar patties, which have egg in them. Write Burger King a letter asking them to provide a veggie-burger that is actually "veggie"! Check out "7 Tips for Writing a Successful Letter")

Very tasty and only 340 calories and 8 grams of fat (without the mayo). Compare that to the Whopper, with a total of 700 calories and a 'whopping' 42 grams of fat!
